Track and field has changed my life in the best ways possible. Beginning with my freshman year in highschool, I went into cross country thinking I'd do it as training for lacrosse in the spring, but was I wrong. I instantly fell in love with the sport, and by the end of the season I had already made up my mind to drop lacrosse and pursue track and field full time as a distance runner. Joining cross country that year was the best decision I made in my life and I'm grateful for what the amazing sport has offered me. I don't know if it was the team aspect and going on runs with my teammates who I now call great friends of mine, or the satisfaction of seeing hard work pay off in a race that got me so hooked on cross country and track, but something about it just catches me. Afterall, I started off in the bottom of the JV team, but soon worked my way up to varsity the following season. Now I'm an active scorer for my team in duel meets and strive to get good times in the post season. Distance running is my passion and I aspire continue this passion from high school into college. Being part of the team, which I'd honestly call a family, is one of the most important aspects of the sport and I strive to bring happiness and a good attitude to help out my teammates improve and feel comfortable and like an accepted member of the family. It's always nice to have fun while also putting in hard work, which track has the perfect balance of. I put my full dedication into the sport now, not missing any practices and putting in the hard work in the off season to do the best I can to improve. Finding the perfect balance between sports and academics can always be tough, but I'd say that's one of my strong suits. Almost being a junior now, I took many challenging classes this year and kept my GPA above a 4.0 while doing track full time as well, and hope to keep this cycle throughout my next 2 years of high school and into college. My main goals for college are to graduate in a field or major I will enjoy making money in and at the same time trying to help out the team win meets and to go for some personal goal times I hope to set.
