Personal Statement

For me, the track is a place where I can let my voice be heard, help and guide active teammates, and express my passion for the sport that has grown to become one of my greatest blessings. On and off the track I maintain high standards and excel through hard work, self-drive, and consistency. I have never and will never be spotted cutting corners or slacking off when focus is required. I know when it is appropriate to have fun and when a job needs to get done. I maintain a growth mindset and know that excellence in a craft cannot solely come from talent, as hard work and grit are the stepping stones for success. As a goal-oriented athlete, I challenge myself on a consistent basis by setting attainable marks and not ones that are unrealistic. These goals have propelled me to perform my best on the track as well as in the classroom. As an aspiring physical therapist, I know that my body is my most vital tool, and I do everything in my power to prevent injuries. I listen to my body often, listen to it when it's in pain, and know that the little things, such as proper stretching, sleep, diet, and hydration, will help prevent injury and set myself up for success in the long run.
