One thing that flourishes through my mind on a day-to-day basis would be, “Champions aren’t born overnight”. It took years for these professional athletes to become who they are today. I started running in 7th grade for the town of Pine Island. It was a fellow teammate of mine that really gave me that push of motivation for where I am today. It pushed me to climb the ladder on the team to be one of the fastest on the team. Likewise, I wanted not to just reach the stars. I wanted to exceed them. I really found a passion for success. I gave myself a personal Goals Journal and built a checklist on everything I wanted to do. For example, I have written down the school record for the mile (4:23). Not every time I can succeed. When I do disappoint myself from a race, I write it down, so then I can look back on what I did wrong. I have always wanted to better myself in running because it means so much to me. All year round I eat, breathe, and sleep running. This is why I want to run in College. Once I’m done with high school, I want to further expand my education, and running capabilities, so I can feel like I have a purpose. I believe that even though these sports are more individual, you should build up the people around you as well. It is the team that brings you to success, not just yourself. There is nothing better than a team that is there for each other and wants to do bigger things than any other small school. That is why my team from Pine Island Minnesota, means so much to me. The coaches and the athletes are all driven to perform their best on a day-to-day basis. That says a lot from our coaches. Coach Northrop has shown me the path to success and how to expand upon even the tiniest of details.
