I became interested in pole vaulting upon watching my sister's high school track meets. I would see people fly up into to the air and pictured myself doing it as well. My opportunity came in eighth grade when our new track coach decided to buy the school's first two poles. I then began teaching myself and soon branched out to professional help.
Throughout my pole vaulting career I have learned the value of attention to detail, as this sport requires technique more so than most. I am determined in whatever I do and stubborn enough not to ever quit; my work ethic sets me apart from the rest as I do not settle for anything less than perfection, which has earned me success in both athletics, being a part of 6 state winning teams, and academics, achieving a GPA over 4.0. I am always willing to learn and try new techniques. These are among the main reasons I believe I can make a positive impact on a college athletic team.
