Personal Statement

My goal is to attend a college that meets both my athletic and academic needs.  Athletically, I aspire to train and compete with a strong, committed team and ultimately run a sub-4 minute mile.  Academically, I have a very personal passion to join the field of medicine and to serve others.

I will make a good candidate for your team because I know the importance of working together to bring home a win.  I'm currently a distance runner for Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana.

I had a successful high school career running in England and my senior year in Missouri. I had the opportunity to go to Missouri State XC Championships and work with my team to place 2nd. I also made it to Missouri State Track in 2018 as well and although I did not perform my best, it allowed a fire in my belly to improve as I now compete collegiately. In the fall of 2018, I was HCAC Freshman of the Year for cross country and ran a 26:41 8k.

I'm also different from my peers because when I was 10, I incurred a surgery-induced blood clot and debilitating nerve damage.  Doctors told me I'd never be able to run again and that I'd be in pain for the rest of my life.  I was put on a half-day school schedule, wheelchair bound and went to many therapy and doctor appointments.  After two and a half years of pain, I was blessed with a team of doctors who were able to fix me.  I also discovered that it was a gift that I was injured because I would not have become as determined, hungry, and selfless as I am today.  My journey has driven me to become the Student Body President of Lakenheath High School as a Junior, train harder than any other athlete to catch up and then surpass their skill, and feel the need to serve others and motivate many.
