Personal Statement
I started running competitively in 8th grade and I ended my first track season by breaking the Jr. High School record in the 1600m and was only a half second off the Jr. High record. in cross country. I have the second fastest 5000m time in school history and the school record in the 3200m. As a Freshman, I placed third at Class C state Cross Country and won the state championship in the Class C state 3200m. As a Sophomore I won the Class C individual state cross county title as well as the Class C 3200m state title. As a Junior I placed 3rd at State Cross Country. I think I would make a good candidate to be a college athlete because I love to run and I have a talent for distance running. I run, compete, and train year-round (indoor track, outdoor track, and cross country) and have been a member of the Bozeman Track Club since 8th grade. My cross country coach said I was the smartest athlete he has ever worked with because of the strategy I have used in races. I am hoping to run at a college where I can excel academically and athletically. After taking the PSAT as a Sophomore and scoring 1290 out of 1500, I hope that college coaches will see me as a well-rounded athlete.
