I am currently a Junior at Fort Calhoun. I am a dedicated, hardworking student athlete that excels in running, the classroom and is a gifted artist. I am looking to continue my running career at the college level while obtaining my college degree. I run both cross country and track, and this season in cross country my current personal record is 17:41. I qualified to run on the varsity cross country team during my sophomore year by dropping my 5k time by 1 minute and 42 seconds from my previous freshman PR. Between my sophomore year to my junior year, I have reduced my 5K time an additional 1 minute and 7 seconds. I always push my hardest in any race that I am competing in. This level of dedication and competition carries over to my track career. My freshman personal record for the 1600m was 5:37. Then at my first meet of the year, my 1600m time was 5:31. That was a small improvement from my freshman season, however, I dropped my time by at least 2 seconds at every subsequent varsity race. I ended my sophomore season with a PR of 5:05. I also run the 4x800m run and the occasional 3200m.
My hard work does not just stop on the course and track. I work hard and take great pride in my academic successes. I have been on A honor roll every semester. I have maintained a GPA that is higher than 3.85 throughout my high school career. I also was inducted into the National Honor Society during my sophomore year. I also take part in multiple clubs in school. I am a member of quiz bowl, art club, band, and jazz band. Even with all these activities, I maintain a drive to keep my schoolwork top quality. I would like to work a field that utilizes my love of science. I want the best opportunity to attend a university that will both encourage my love of science while allowing me to continue competing in cross country and track at the highest level possible.
