Ever since I ran my very first race back in eighth grade, I knew I wanted to pursue a career into the collegiate level. At the time I finished that first race and wanted to just fall over in exhaustion, I realized it was something I loved doing. As my high school career began, the love for the sport increased. In the start it was not easy for me, I had one coach believe I was a sprinter and another believe I had talent in mid-distance, however, in the end, I never let that get to me. For my freshman year and the majority of my sophomore year, I practiced with sprinters. Even if I did not enjoy the races I was competing in, I always tried to put in 110% effort. Then once I finally got my chance to run the 800m, I knew that was something I had to be committed to. After that spring season, I joined the cross country team in order to train for mid-distance racing. Once winter track began and I got to run the 600m, I realized it was my love for the sport that never let me give up. No matter if it was a speed workout, recovery run, or a race in the state meet I put in my maximum effort, as it was improvement I wanted. I may have had to make some drastic changes into my racing mentality, but I feel as if my hard work and determination didn't let me down and allowed me to succeed in my new events. Throughout the season new PR's and accolades began to come my way, and I really don't want that to an end after my high school graduation. This has been my same mindset in the classroom as well, not only do I take pride in my running, but my academics as well. Every trimester I strive to study hard and keep a high GPA. Track has been my life throughout high school and everything about it brings joyfulness to me. To all the coaches and recruiters I want to thank you for taking your time for reading this and I want to let you all know I will bring my grit and passion to succeed in athletics and academics to any collegiate program that believes in me.
