As a dedicated runner throughout my life, I was happy to follow in my father’s footsteps of becoming a decorated high school and collegiate runner. My father was my mentor, guide, and taught me all about the great sport of cross country. However, tragedy struck our family as my father passed away due to complications with cancer during my freshman year. Shattered from his death, I was more determined to be a formidable and stronger person involving my deep passion for running. My aspirations for being a collegiate athlete only became more ingrained in me after the devastating loss.
In using this tragedy as motivation, I helped the varsity team my freshman and sophomore year win back-to-back State Championships all while achieving a high academic standard in the classroom with a 3.92 GPA. In addition, being awarded first team all-conference as a freshman and first team all-conference again as a sophomore, as well as the Richard and Michelle Dayton Memorial Scholarship Award, it was especially gratifying that my hard work was indeed paying off.
As someone motivated by goals, I’ve always looked ahead to the future for opportunities as a serious runner and an academically motivated person. My main goals are to attend and run for a DIII, DII or possibly even a DI school while staying in the Mid-Atlantic or Northeast regions of the country. Furthermore, as someone with a budding curiosity of how structures are created or for problems in any infrastructure needing to be solved, I’ve always wanted to be a civil engineer and hope to pursue that degree in the Fall of 2022.
