My interests are still changing, so at this point I'm not sure what my major will be. I would like to live in Japan and work as an instructor teaching English as a second language to Japanese students. I studied basic Japanese on my own, when I could not find a course to take. Sports medicine and physical therapy also interest me.
I became interested in running in fifth grade when I started track and then joined cross country in the seventh grade at Sacred Heart Catholic School in Salisbury NC. My coach there was a volunteer, and she and her husband were experienced runners and encouraged me to improve. When I started high school at Salisbury, I joined the cross country team, and was able to run varsity my freshman year. I ran winter and spring track for Salisbury HS, and continued improving my times. Last summer I joined the local Salisbury Running Club. I was the youngest runner in the group, mentored by experienced long distance/rmarathon runners. We ran at 6 AM each day. At the same time, I joined the YMCA Warriors track team in Salisbury, and ran in AAU sponsored meets. We practiced three evenings a week.
I transferred to Gray Stone Day School in August 2013, and started working out with my new team before school started. I was able join varsity at Gray Stone. We were able to compete in regional and state finals. I attended all optional practices to improve myself as much as possible. I improved my 5k PR by over a minute and a half. I ran winter track and am currently running spring track.
I am interested in community service and have participated in events to help feed the homeless and children in Africa. I have also participated in the Boy Scouts of America and ROTC programs. I am always dedicated when it come to improving my education, character, and athletic ability.
