I run cross country and track, as well as play soccer. My goal is to run cross country and track at a college that can advance my career path and help channel my athletic abilities. I have always liked to run, but have just recently started focusing on my running abilities. My times have shown improvement from year to year as I continue to train and improve myself as an athlete. Academically, I am in the top 10% of my class, and have maintained a 4.022 GPA while taking honors curriculum. I strive to maintain good grades by working hard both in the classroom and outside of school.
I would like to give you a little background on my running career. As an Eighth grader I led my team to a league title by winning every race we participated in, except one where I finished second. That was the season that really sparked my interest in running. Most recently in my 2017 cross country season, I was named the “Runner of the Year” in our conference (Northern Buckeye Conference) after winning the conference championship. I was also a 2017 Regional qualifier after becoming runner-up in our district race. I have achieved this in cross country all while playing soccer throughout my high school career. I have been a starting varsity midfielder since my freshman year. I have excelled on the soccer field and have received All-Conference Honors all three years as well as district honors. My love for soccer has restricted my training routine for cross country and I realize my times are not that competitive at the college level yet, but I am sure as I transition into my college years, with a quality coach to train me and a competitive team to motivate me, I will be able to reach my full potential as a runner. I hope to carry this year’s improvement and success into this track season and into my senior year and beyond.
