I was diagnosed with ADHD and Tourette's Syndrome when I was approximately 8 years old. Having Tourette's Syndrome has been something that has affected me in everyday life. I have found through my Tourette's Syndrome doesn't affect my running like it does many other things in my life. I am able to just go out and run and be competitive with everyone else. During my Freshman year in High School I was the second best runner on my Cross Country team which had 5 Juniors and 1 Senior. I finished 14th at the Regional Cross Country Meet and 30th at State 2 places and 2 seconds behind our best runner. I then went on to become the best 3200 runner on my High School Track team and qualified for the State Track meet with a 2nd place Regional Finish and placed 11th out of 16 at State. My Sophomore year in Cross Country was my breakthrough year. I was the number one runner on the team with 5 Seniors and 1 Junior. I finished 4th place at Regionals and placed 12th at the State Cross Country Meet. I participated in the 2018 Oklahoma Meet of Champions and the 2018 Oklahoma/Arkansas Duel. My Junior year in Cross Country I qualified as an individual with a 7th place Regional Finish and placed 11th at the State Cross Country Meet. I participated in the 2019 Oklahoma Meet of Champions and the 2019 Oklahoma/Arkansas Duel.
I feel like running has helped me to become a better person overall and has benefitted me both personally and physically. I would like to participate in Cross Country and/or Track at the Collegiate Level. I would like to graduate from college with a degree which will benefit me in life by giving me opportunities I may not get without a college degree. I have a very strong support system with my parents, brother and other family and friends who push me to be better all of the time. I look forward to the opportunity to further my education, training and compete at the highest level possible.
