My name is Travis Campbell and I am a 17 year old Track athlete and honors student at Bishop Reding Catholic Secondary School. My Track journey is a relatively new one, seeing as it began in just the spring of 2019. Up until that point, I was a soccer player for a club currently ranked 1st in Canada among U17 boys (Milton Youth Soccer Club). During my time as a soccer player, I was able to accomplish many things, most notbaly would undoubtedly be winning the Ontario Cup (Provincials) in the summer of 2019. Although I definitely enjoyed my success as a soccer player, I decided to make the transition to Track following my success during my school Track season in 2019, which was my first year in high school Track. During that season, I enjoyed the intense workouts during practices and the adrenaline rush before races, and so when a club approached me to begin training with them after I began to have success at meets, I knew in my heart that I had to switch sports. I began training with that Track Club, Hamilton Olympic Club, in November 2019 and I have taken a keen interest in becoming faster ever since. Prior to the coronavirus outbreak, I became 8th in Canada for the indoor 400m among U18 boys (51.84), and 12th in Canada for the 60m dash among U18 boys (7.08). In addition to being a Track Athlete, I am an AP student, drummer, and a member of an exclusive leadership program at my school called YOUnity. These extra curricular activities have taught me to manage my time wisely, and heighten my leadership skills to make me a well-rounded athlete. To conclude, although I am a relatively new Track athlete, I am dedicated to maximizing my potential to become the fastest I can be, and I work to do so while maintaining a good GPA and continuing to leave my mark and legacy at Bishop Reding Secondary School.
