My objective is to be an exceptional student/athlete at your university starting in the 2018/19 academic year. As I mature and better formulate my priorities, it has become clearer to me that track and academics are fundamental aspects of who I am. They define my character and feed my growth. I am reaching out to explore both my academic and athletic fit within your program.
I am currently running track for The University of Toronto Track & Field Club in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I am just hitting my stride as I focus in and develop my talent. This focus and determination has served me well both on and off the track. I believe myself to be a highly committed student/athlete.
I have maintained a good grade point average in all of my courses and I take some of the most rigorous courses offered including math and science. I treat my running like my academics as both are very important to me. It is for these reasons why the NCAA route is where I have set my sites. I am not one-dimensional and I need both my sport and my learning to be balanced.
My focus, maturity and confidence continue to grow since being named athlete of the year on several occasions and enhancing my skills with leadership programs during summer vacations. For multiple years, I worked at a youth camp for Olympic hopefuls further enhancing both my coaching and leadership abilities. I also have a strong network of friends and enjoy pursuing team goals as we did in competing at the Ontario High School Championships (OFSAA) in the 4x100 and 4x400m relays.
It would be an honor for me if we could explore opportunities with your program. If you would like to speak with my current coach, his name is Bob Westman and you can reach him at [email protected].
I really appreciate your consideration. I suspect you read a number of these letters and I am confident in saying that I will be worth your time.
