I have been competing in sports since the first grade: basketball and soccer. I became interested in the high jump in the sixth grade and have since competed in each season's district meet. Freshmen year, I went to state after winning districts jumping 5'8. My first meet last year, I jumped 6 feet in the rain, and I jumped 6 feet 3 inches in a meet later in the season. Since learning that 6'3 is a D2-level jump, I have become more driven to compete at the college level. As a junior, I was a captain on my soccer team at Catlin Gabel and decided against continuing my varsity basketball career from my sophomore year with the intention of training for the track season. I have stayed in shape, working with a private coach over the summer, playing soccer in the Fall, doing high jump workouts 4-5 times per week, and attending indoor practice sessions with coach David Lemen once per week.
In addition to my love for jumping I have a passion for the visual arts, and have sold my art at school events and privately. I have worked two summers at Catlin Gabel summer camps, and through this experience have gained interest in becoming an art teacher. I have a very outgoing, positive and social personality. I meet with my teachers often during the school year and work hard to be the best student that I can be. These traits reflect heavily upon my academic drive as well as my improving GPA.
