Running takes all the stress out of the world for me. So whenever I'm stressed, I run to clear my head, and it helps me become a better runner, along with keeping me calm. I have learned that I was given less talent by genetics, and that I've always had to work hard for what I've achieved and that it feels so much better working at something instead of being given something. I've also learned that I sometimes have more sportsmanship than others. After a race, I will shake everyone's hand, and even go out of my way to shake their hand, even if they just walk away. Overcoming injuries used to be a problem when I played football but I have since stopped, knowing it could mess up my career in track. Track came into my life when my school offered practices for sixth graders. My parents pushed me hard in the classroom with academics, and I wanted to show them that I could do other things, and liked things other than school. I joined the sixth grade track team and have been running hurdles ever since. The reason I picked hurdles was because I had seen the Track and Field World Championship the year before and remembered being so intrigued in the hurdles races.
