Hi, my name is Maya Tashie. I am in my junior year of high school at Bayard Rustin high school in West Chester, Pennsylvania. I am 16 years old and my goal is to play college tennis. I have been playing since the age of seven. My freshman year I was third varsity singles and ever since sophomore year I’ve been first singles for my team. I am a very competitive player and I put in the maximum amount of effort into any task given. I’m always looking to improve or receive coaching at any time because I strive to improve my game. I am a multi-sport athlete and play varsity lacrosse in the spring. During lacrosse season I am still always finding ways to hit and make a practice when I have the chance. Being a multi-sport athlete, I get along easily with my teams and don’t find issues making friends or cheering on a fellow teammate. With my athletics I do balance my academics with A’s and B’s at the honors level. I am a hard worker in school and put in maximum effort to my work. I believe a good work ethic and drive is my key to success not only in school but on the court. I love tennis because it shows my athletic talent and my competitive edge. I love the challenge the sport always gives me either in a practice or a tournament match. I am going to continue to work hard this season and my senior season to fulfill my goal of playing in college.
