My name is Joshua Wilborn and I am currently a junior at Beaufort High School. Being a student athlete has taught me to balance my academics, athletics, and family commitments. I work hard in the classroom, as well as on the track. I am in National Honors Society and have maintained a 3.7 GPA thus far. I aspire to maintain a solid grade point average throughout high school and college. My goals in the years ahead are to improve in what I've done already in my academic and athletic career. My coach first inspired me to run the 800m race which I have continued to pursue for 2 years, going into 3 years of this event in the sport. My times have gradual improved from a 2:04 in my freshman year on the 4x800m team, I soon took the leading role the next yea as captain of the 800m team becoming not just a leader but a friend to all my fellow runners, helping them along the season, teaching technique, working with them to practice hand offs, etc. We "The 4x800m team" went all the way to state qualifiers with 3 out of 4 of the players as sophomores and one junior at the time. We did not make it, but, I solely went to state in the 800m race, I ran a 2:00 at state as a sophomore and ended in 5th place, this was my first year attending state for track. Now, As a junior, I feel that it is my duty to further make sure that the new season is full of improvement to get my team to state and win. The thing that truly makes me different and an amazing candidate is My motivation, Confidence, and Determination to get what needed to be done in the best way possible. I am a friend, a leader, and an overall good student who listens to what needs to be done and acts upon
