My goal is to find a balance between academics and athletics at a college that will prepare me for a career in Marketing. I am a relentless worker and always give 100 percent in whatever I attempt. I enjoy the shorter races and relays, but I will do whatever my team needs. I have dedicated my summers to track and improving my times competing in AAU and Jr. Olympic circuits. I am a "coachable" athlete and I will give my college the best on the track and in the classroom.
I am used to overcoming challenges in my life. I was diagnosed with Amblyopia in my left eye and I was told it would be difficult to play sports. I had to work harder than everyone and I would stay late at each practice. Because of this extra work, I enjoyed a lot of success in football and basketball. While playing these sports, I noticed that I was able to run faster than most kids. I was asked to run track with my high school while I was in 8th grade and I won the middle school county championship in the 100m and 200m. During my first year in high school, I received a major concussion while playing football. I was out for 6 weeks and fell behind in all my classes. I was able to get caught up during the winter break and then I was hit with the flu in the second half of the year. I did my best to improve my grades and I studied all summer to ensure I was ready for my second year. I am proud to say that I was on the Honor Roll for the entire year and I was just inducted into the school Beta Club.
I have volunteered for many different organizations, but I really enjoy working at youth basketball camps over the summer. I see myself working with youth teams as a volunteer coach in the future.
