I Been part of the Varsity long distance team for as long as freshmen Year. I had been given the opportunity to represent my school and myself in such an early time in my life and it is always something I can be proud of , specially knowing that I was going to compete against people with more experience . But this is a sport where the fastest one wins . That's what I wanted , and I had to show everyone my worth.
My sophomore year , after been the top runner at my school and with a Personal Record of 16:53 for a 5k , I was able to get 8th place in the District 4-6A Cross country meet . This allowed me to qualify to the UIL Region 1 championship. As a result of this , I was named the Team Captain for both Cross country and long distance Track &Field team . This gave me the courage to maintain good grades and develop discipline .I proved this in Track season . I place 6th place in both the 3200 meters(10:11) and the 1600 meter(4:38) in the District 4-6A Meet . Now i was competing with the good
From this point on, I knew what I had to do to become better then I what I was the previous year . Now it was time for me to get back to work . My junior year I became more of an elite runner around the area . I was able to medal in 6 out of 9 meets Sam Houston High school participated in during the Cross country season . 2 of them which were Elite races , one of them i Finish in top 10 and top 21 . I was able to gain a new personal record of 15:59 and also break the school record in the 5k .The same year I place at the District 4-6A District meet. This allowed me to qualify to UIl Region 1 meet in Lubbock, TX , for the second year in a row . I finish 37th in the Region with a new personal Record of 15:46. And to finish my Junior year participating in the Nike South Invitation where I place 24th in the open division
Now i still have a lot to cover but with training and dedication , I now i can find a good college that will help me achieve my goal to become a Music director and a track and field coach and also help any school interested in my to get titles .
