My interest in Cross Country sparked in the seventh grade but it wasn't until reaching the high school level that I found my true passion for running. After my freshman track season, we received a new coach that introduced a new training program that completely turned our program around for the better and I was able to grow and excel my sophomore season. As an alternate for varsity my sophmore year, I was able to train like an elite runner which helped secure my position as a pivotal point scorer for our Varsity team my junior year. I have learned to push when my team needs me the most and honor the importance that each individual holds in a close race.
During my sophmore track season, I was introduced to running the 3200, which has also helped me evolve as a runner and is quickly becoming one of my favorite races. Running the 3200, I have learned how to run "alone". I was able to keep myself from losing focus and keeping the right pace for the long distance. Consistency, patience, sacrifice, and growth of perseverance through any harsh conditions were some of the many aspects that I have used in my high school running career.
I have learned important life leassons and values from running and being part of a successful cross country team. With every training and race experience I have had, there has been an opportunity to obtain new lessons and skills that I can apply to every day life. I can't wait for the lessons my future holds and I am excited about the opportunity to run collegiately.
