My name is Tristan Salinas and I have been a cross country and track athlete for the past 5 years. I have run at three different schools in South Texas and currently I run here in the Coastal Bend of Texas at Tuloso-Midway HS. I received the Most Improved cross country runner my sophomore year and last year I received the Fighting Heart award. I was awarded 2nd Team all district in my conference last year in cross country having placed 13th, and last Spring I placed 5th and was an area alternate in the 3200m run. My goal is to run at the next level and I am fortunate to have a HS coach that trains us almost year round. We put in hundreds of miles in the summer hopefully preparing us for our best season yet. Aside from my athletic goals, I am also a very strong student as my parents are both educators. My motivation in both academics and athletics comes from a competitive spirit I have had since my early years. Along with my many accolades from invitational cross country meets and track meets, I have also excelled in UIL Spelling and Vocabulary. I competed at the Scripps National Spelling Bee my 7th grade year and I continue my love of spelling by attempting to advance beyond regionals. My goal is to get to the State competition this year. I am a member of the National Honor Society and I was a national alternate in Database Applications in Business Professionals of America. I participate in many activities in high school and I spend many hours volunteering in the community and in my church.
Given the opportunity to run at the collegiate level would be a dream of mine that I would embrace and continue doing whatever it takes to be the best runner I can be.
