It all started when I was in 8th grade, the varsity cross country coach told me to come out and run my freshman year. Once the summer was coming to an end and practice was about to start I decided to join. That first day of practice I realized how tough this sport was. That was the exact moment i fell in love with running. The person I looked up to was not only my best friend but he was also the best runner on the team. Every single practice I would try my best to beat him and he pushed me and made me a better runner. He was the one that showed me that nothing is given to you, that it takes hours of dedication and doing the extra things that separate you from everyone else. He now is running in college and showed me I am capable of doing the same. He passed the torch to me and now I am currently the leader of my team trying to do the same and push all my teammates to be better.
This sport has showed me many things like how important it is to have a strong bond between teammates and to believe in the program. Academically in high school I want to finish top 10 in my class. In college I want to follow the profession I always wanted as a little kid and become a sports journalist. I have moved from Idaho to Utah to where I now call home in Texas. It was a lot of moving especially it was all done in one year, but all I would have to do was put on a pair of my running shoes and all that stress would just go away. I know I have what it take to be a great student athlete at a college program.
