My name is Reggie Black and what made me a better athlete wasn't really from running track, it was my mom. Ever since I could remember my mom was all I had really, she displayed diligence, perseverance, and a headstrong demeanor. This carried over to me; although it might not be noticeable, deep down I do everything for my loved ones and the people who expect so much from me. My biggest fear is being a disappointment and not letting anyone down.
This high standard I hold myself to is what keeps driving me to be the best student athlete as possible. My mom was able to distribute this fire in me and what I've came to realize as I've gotten older is that I have the same effect with my teammates, classmates, and peers. I have aspirations of being a college track runner, as well as using my running as a vehicle to get into school. I plan to major in political science, possibly minor in pre-law, so it leads me to a positive direction into law school. That way I can live the Sports Attorney career I dream of, help my family out, and overall just pay homage to everyone who helped me get there. What means a lot as far as college choices is a school that takes care of each and every student. The simple stuff like coaches keeping up on their athletes with school, how they're maintaining and actually do what's best so that the student athlete is successful.
