Austin Garcia '24 Recruiting Profile

My name is Austin Garcia and I am a senior at Tompkins HS in Katy, Texas.

My journey as a track and cross- country athlete has been both challenging and rewarding.  From the first time I stepped on the track, I knew this was the sport for me.  Over the past several years, I have grown not only as an athlete but also as an individual with an extreme passion for running.

Both track and cross country have taught me invaluable life skills such as perseverance, discipline, and teamwork.  Through many hours of training in the Texas heat, I have learned to push my limits and overcome obstacles, never shying away from the hard work necessary to get better.  As a member of the track team and cross country team, I have learned the importance of supporting and motivating my teammates, creating an environment of togetherness and mutual growth.  This camaraderie is what propelled our team to the Texas State Championships.  

I have been fortunate to be part of a team that has earned numerous accolades and championships, and it has been an amazing experience to contribute to that success.  More importantly, I have been blessed with the guidance and mentorship of an amazing coach.  Coach Yarrow has been the main driving force in my love and passion for running.  He has also instilled the importance of being a role model for younger athletes and that is a role I cherish, and I hope to continue inspiring others to pursue their athletic passions.

Running at the collegiate level is the next chapter of my athletic journey, and I am excited about the opportunities it holds.  I am looking for a college program that will not only challenge me athletically but also academically.  The idea of being part of a team that competes at the highest level excites me greatly.  I am dedicated to continuous improvement and believe my potential is tremendous with the right coach, resources, and support.  I am committed to maintaining a strong work ethic, both on the track and in the classroom.
