I started Pole vault in the outdoor season of my freshman year. My first attempt was horrible, I didn't even make onto the pit. Even with this discouraging start I decided to stick with it. Throughout the season I did my best to learn and progress. My goal was to reach 10'. By the end of the season my PR was 9' 6". At the end of my sophomore indoor season I qualified for districts(10') and regionals(11') and finished at 11'6". During my sophomore outdoor season I made another 6 inches of growth and ended with a PR of 12'. This indoor season I continued my progression. I qualified for state (12' 9") and was the top junior in 6A with a PR of 13'2". Even with all my extracurricular activities I have maintained A's and high B's in all honors classes. One week after I vaulted 13'2" I was involved in a skiing accident. I dislocated my femur and fractured my femoral head. I had an excellent team of doctors and a smooth surgery. I am expected to make a full recovery. My goal is to use this extra time to bounce back, rehab and become stronger than ever.
