I am Hayden Fisher, a student athlete graduating from Sumner High School in 2022. I started my athletic career from the second I was born, always doing something athletically related. I have always been an extremely well rounded athlete, doing well in every sport I played in. My athletic career really transitioned to a running career when I was in wrestling. My mom noticed my natural stride when I was running on the wrestling mats, and after that wrestling season ended, I jumped into cross country with Federal Way Track Club in the 5th grade. I quickly developed into an excellent runner, placing 45th at the 2014 National Junior Olympic Cross Country Championships during my first season. From then on, I was addicted to running, going to Nationals each year in Cross Country through 8th grade and qualifying for nationals each year for Track and Field. In 8th grade track, I saw my hard work really pay off, consistently under 5 minutes in the mile, and finished the season with a 4:48 PR. Freshman year cross country went rather well, I found myself quickly on the varsity team running as the #3 runner. Freshman year Track, I again found myself on varsity, consistently running under 4:50 for the mile, and finding a growing love for the 800. I had my name on part of a school record for the Distance Medley Relay, my leg was the 800, and I ran a 2:03, an unofficial PR. I was also honored to to compete at the Shoreline Invitational in the Freshman Mile finishing 6th with a 4:42. My sophomore cross country season was a major milestone of my career, PR'ing by almost 40 seconds in the 5k, nearly breaking 16:00 in the 3 mile, and qualifying individually for the State Championships. The highlight of my career showed during the 2021 Track season, albeit a short one, during the SPSL Championships my work had finally paid off, with competition pushing my mile down from a 4:31 earned early in the season, to a 4:24. My 800 reflected hard work as well, with a 7 second PR from a 2:03 to a 1:57. Not only did I find speed this season, but also developed race strategy and applied it to my races, coming in with a plan and being able to change it on the fly. I cannot wait to see what my senior year has to offer for me, as well as whatever college I land at will bring as well.
As for my academics, I am a solid student, and I am mechanically inclined, always thinking about something new or how something can be improved. I have competed in high level Science and Engineering Fairs on both the Regional Level and State Level, winning Regionals four times and State once in the engineering categories. I have an ever growing love and passion for engineering, and hope to find a program that suits both my athletic career as well as my passion for engineering. As an A- average student, having a passion for engineering, and experience in Track and Cross Country, I know I have what it takes to be a part of your program. Thank you for taking the time to look through my profile.
