Hi, my name is Zachary and it’s always been a dream of mine to compete in college. I haven’t always tried my hardest to make this goal achievable, but I can say that this track season I have. I started off the season with being put in a brand new event: the 4x800. It kicked my butt and I ran around a 2:27. Being a typical 400 meter runner, this didn’t seem right. I thought I could easily run a 2 minute. However, by the time I had wanted to persue a 2:00 flat 800, it was too late in the season to learn pacing. This led me to use a pacer where I had consistently dropped time in my 800, finally hitting a Pr of 2:13.99 (just under 2:14). This will not stop me though and my goal is to end the season with a 2:10. If I were to get recruited, I would love to have insight on the correct pacing of an 800. I truly believe I can run at least a 2:00 800.
