My parents signed me up for my first race when I was 7 years old. I was hooked. In middle school, I joined the cross country team and had some success. It motivated me to work harder. The hard work paid off. My freshman year, I earned my varsity letter in both cross country and track. I also broke my school’s freshman 4k record. As much as I want to grow and improve as an individual, I want my team to succeed even more. Cross country is a team sport, and working together to improve as a team brings me joy. I actively recruit for our team, lead workouts, and was recognized as MVP during both my freshman and sophomore years.
I’m naturally curious. I want to learn and see what I’m capable of in all aspects of life. Just like I push myself in sports, I want to excel in the classroom. My current GPA is a 3.8, while taking advanced classes for college. My teachers nominated me to represent our high school at the Wisconsin Leadership Seminars, an honor for only one Sophomore each year. I also participate in our community as a youth member of the City Council and Jr. Optimist, helping young athletes at basketball camps and bike races. I don’t just want to be the best athlete I can be. I want to be the best person I can be, for my family, my team, and my community.
