Setting the school record in the 110m hurdles is my greatest athletic achievement, up to this point. Having set the record as only a sophomore, I had to work overtime on speed and technique. Through all of the extra time I put in during practice and in the offseason to achieve the record, I discovered the great feeling of accomplishing a goal you put your all towards. I first joined track and field in sixth grade and quickly picked up hurdling. I advanced my skills by working with my high school coaches throughout middle school, having the opportunity to push myself against older athletes. In middle school, there were not many events I would lose, but running with the high school team in practice made me realize I would have to work very hard to reach my goal of breaking the high school hurdle records. My academic objectives through the rest of high school are to maintain or raise my GPA and remain within the top ten percent of my class. I believe that I will be a great fit for your team because I push myself to reach the goals that both my coaches and I set for myself, I will appropriately balance my school work with athletics, and I will help lead the team to be successful.
