I have so many goals for my overall college career, especially now since I feel like this wont actually happen. Me getting recruited that is. Being a shorty but also wanting to be a good spiker for my volleyball team, its been pretty tough. Took me a while to finally realize I was just made to be a Libero. Let me explain how i began volleyball, its pretty funny. I began by playing alone, just spiking and receiving against a tree for TWO years. I figured it would be good since the ball never came back the same way.
By the time I went to middle school in 6th grade, my receiving was actually pretty good and I was the only boy of my grade to make the team in my public school. But I was an amateur in the actual games, so I began playing more and more sports. I ended playing basketball, flag football, soccer, cross country, ballet, karate, badminton, and indoor hockey. My mom always told me that in whatever I do, I must put 100% percent of my effort. so that made me an very fast runner with good reflexes and also very flexible.
Lets get back to volleyball, I joined a volleyball club my 7th grade year. And my team were all about 13-14 years old. It was a very, different experience. i was in the team because i was given a scholarship because they said I was a good player. they let me also train with the 17-18 years boys which was intense. My goal was always up there were the Olympics were. So when I played in my team, it was smack to reality! Before then I would play with adults so I was used to fast everything and shouting and just sweating a lot. But my team, it was different.
In our first game, we versed a team that was good. Like they seemed more in sync, and we were barely getting to know each other. I remember seeing my team getting really nervous, I got super nervous I could feel my stomach not doing good. But from all the experience I gained and the maturity I had at that age, I just, something took over. I remember going over to everyone and saying that we can do this, also pointed out the other teams weaknesses and how we can fight back. I remember whenever they took me out, we would start to lose. But when I was in, we gained confidence, now I'm not saying I was a better player than everyone. I am a very good player yes, but its the mid that matters. I helped everyone mentally, even the smallest things can make a difference. We ended up winning that game. That was weird to say because I don't like taking credit, but it happened. And that was just one of the times I proved to be a leader, and I'am still growing.
My character is strong I can say that, but I have a lot of respect for everyone. I believe we are all equal, so I would never treat anyone as if they were lower to me. My academic life was not the best my freshmen and sophomore year. I got distracted, and I acknowledge my mistake. But I am fixing it all, so I can assure you that my transcript will be completely different 3 months from now.
So that's what sets me apart. I am a leader, and I'am easy to get along with. My passion and love for volleyball is so very high, and I never stop growing.
Sorry I talk a lot, but one more thing about me is that I never give up, and I hate letting the ball touch the ground.
