My name is Riley Gapp. I am a left-handed volleyball player playing both Setter/Opposite positions. However, I am open to playing wherever I am needed. I am 6’-1", 160 pounds, and according to my doctors, I have a few more inches of growing. It looks like I am following in my father's footsteps, who grew a 1 ½" in college while he was playing Division I volleyball.
Growing up in Laguna Beach, California, I have played multiple sports, including soccer, baseball, and snowboarding. In soccer, I predominantly played left halfback and forward to take advantage of my left foot. My baseball positions were centerfield, first base, pitcher, and I was the leadoff batter. I was a member of the Mammoth Mountain Snowboard team for five years and earned a national ranking of 22nd. I was honored to be invited to the snowboarding nationals all five years.
However, my true passion is volleyball. I have been playing indoor and outdoor volleyball competitively since the 6th grade. I have played for Balboa Bay Volleyball Club for five years and this year we went to Junior Nationals. I continued to play beach and indoor volleyball for Laguna Beach High School. I was selected to Varsity my sophomore year. With my last year of high school rapidly approaching, I am excited to continue my volleyball vocation at the college level. There are two sides to an athlete. Mental and Physical. Although I continue to grow in height, this summer, I have been working with a strength and agility trainer to get stronger physically. However, I believe that my mental strength is one of my most vital assets. My college plans are to major in Business/Graphic Design and play volleyball at the collegiate level.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to speaking with you to discuss opportunities.
