I have made my college decision. Thanks for all your interest.
=======================================================================================================================
My name is Jeremy Li and I am from Orange County, California. I started playing club volleyball when I was 9 years old. As one of the top hitters for my teams, I have been playing both outside hitter and opposite for OCVC and 949. I am now playing for California Volleyball Club mainly as an outside hitter. I have been one of the best all-around players for all of the teams I have played for, including my high school team.
I have been having a dream to play college volleyball and at international level after college if possible. My goal is to attend a school with high academic standard while offering competitive volleyball program at the same time. As of right now, my desired major is business engineering, or psychology.
I have been working extremely hard during routine club and high school practices. Moreover, I have been consistently working on improving my skills through private coaching sessions with top tier coaches in the region. In addition to all those skill trainings, I have been working very hard on weight training, 60 to 90 minutes a day, 5 days a week with a private trainer in order to be physically fit to compete at the highest level. In addition to indoor play, I have been actively participating in beach and grass volleyball tournaments, especially when both the club and high school seasons are off, which helps to sharpen my skills and build up the strength required for indoor volleyball. I have got all my games recorded and been spending time to review my plays, sometimes frame by frame with my coaches and trainer, just to identified areas of improvements. I have been watching games at high levels on YouTube to learn from pros. I believe that all those hard work and self disciplines will pay off during the real games and help me to turn my dreams into reality sooner or later.
Some of my major accomplishments include:
● MVP of Sea View League for 2023 high school season as team captain and top scorer. Team won first place with 9-0 record
● 2023 Student Athlete of the Year for CIF Southern Section
● Second place in the Sea View League for 2022 high school season. Made all league first team as a 16 year old outside hitter
● Second place at the 2021 SCVA Junior Boys Invitational (group 15s Open)
● 5th at Junior Nationals (BJNC) for 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2021 (group 12s, 12s, 13s, 15s open).
● Third place at the 2019 SCVA Holiday Classic (group 14s Open)
● First place at the 2018 SCVA Junior Boys Invitational (group 12s)
● Third place at the 2018 AAU Championship (group 12s)
In addition, I have been participating in the USA Volleyball High Performance Programs (replaced by the National Team Development Training program in 2021) since the age of 12, I made the “Future Select” A2 teams for both 2018 and 2019, and in 2020, I made the A1 team for “Boys Select” which is the highest level for the age group. I was also selected for the 2021 NTDP program, where I got to learn from the best coaches and play with the best players from all around the country.
As a volleyball player, I prioritize being a great teammate and have been doing my best to bring positive energy on to the court. I believe that all players on and off the court need to play hard and help each other in order for the whole team to win tough competitions, as I have learned that the best teammate makes their teammates better.
When it comes to academics, I am taking all AP/IB and honors classes since I fully understand the importance of academic achievements to my future study in college as well as my careers after college. I am one of the top students in my class in terms of academic achievements. My other extracurricular activities include being a boy scout, in which I earned my eagle scout in June 2022, and I actively search for volunteer opportunities in my community.
