Living in Southern California presents a unique environment for competitive soccer. We are able to play year-round in all temperatures to prepare for any type of playing condition (well maybe not all conditions…I played a showcase in Richmond, Virginia in March 2018 there is nothing that can prepare you for playing in 30° and snow!) Playing competitively for as long as I have has really helped shape who I have become and I continue to learn with each new challenge I am faced with. It has instilled a certain drive and determination in me to do the best that I can in everything I do and the desire to push myself and make sacrifices that will help me to follow my dreams. I have learned that hard work and discipline cannot only help me with my game, but also in all other aspects of my life, especially school. By using those invaluable life skills, I was able to maintain a high GPA taking rigorous courses while playing both competitive and high school soccer even after sustaining a concussion in the fall of 2017. That experience helped me to understand the game goes on; no matter what challenges you are faced with, you have to keep moving and concentrate on what comes next. I was named MVP of my high school team, received a scholar athlete award and have been a leader and role model on both of my teams. I could not have accomplished any of this without my teammates; the best reason to play team sports… Lifelong friendships a network of support to push us all to do our best. I look forward to continuing to play the sport that I love for as long as I can and getting as much personal growth out of it as I can.
