Personal Statement

My name is Marc De Guia. I am a upcoming junior in the next school year. In my junior year of high school, I want to excel academically while pursuing my volleyball career. As for college, I want to take up psychology and still continue my career.  I began my journey back in 8th grade in the Philippines by a friend who introduced me the sport.  Getting into the game was not easy because I was made fun of when I was starting out. But then I continued training with the help of good friends and mentors, I was able to enhance my skills.

Two of the most striking experience that I went through, was when I didn't get into the varsity team and when I finally had the opportunity once again I had to move.  Even though this was heartbreaking for me, I still continued on and got better in the sport. During this time I realized that despite hardships, it is not my habit to give up. And in these moments I have noticed that my skills improved significantly especially in my defense and attacks.
