Volleyball personal statement
The reason why I started playing volleyball is because it’s a sport I wanted to try to see if I would be any good at it and I fell in love with it.
When I started playing my sophomore year in high school we did not have a boys team. A senior named Sam white had been trying to get a boys volleyball team all 4 of his years. His senior year he and the girls volleyball coach started the club. I joined the club, then helped make the team an official team my junior year.
I helped advertising for tryouts, practice shirts, recruiting people, and helping the coach with miscellaneous tasks.
The summer before my junior year I played a beach volleyball league every Friday and practiced every other day. The fall/winter of junior year I play on mizuno East volleyball club. We play 5 tournaments throughout the northeast and practice twice a week.
During sophomore club team i was a middle blocker. For summer I started to like setting and back row/ DS. For mizuno I am playing setter and libero. I plan to play setter for high school junior year.
I am passionate about volleyball. I’m constantly thinking about how I can help myself and teammates, and it’s something I’m good at. Volleyball has pushed me to get better grades because if I don’t do well I can’t play and it’s also made me want to attend college.
