My name is Hunter Ross, I've been playing volleyball since I was 11 years old. I've been playing defensive specialist or libero for the past two years. I'm willing to play anywhere at any level. I don't mind what my role is, no matter what it is I'll do my best in that role. Last season wasn't what we wanted it to be but I helped keep the spirits high and helped my team always look forward. We never gave up and that mindset has been engraved into my mind for everything. I'm a team first player who always looks for the best in my teammates and I hope to bring the best out of them in every game, practice, or tournament. Last season I played in all 27 games across all 61 sets of volleyball. In that time I was able to rack up 239 digs with an average of 8.9 a game. I also had a 90% serve percentage and an 90% serve receive percentage. My serve receive rating was 1.83 and my serve rating was 1.62. Also on 350 serve receive attempts I only errored 37 times. We played some of the best teams from the state and my numbers stayed pretty consistent no matter who we played. I was also able to rack up 7 aces across 160 serves, even though this may not seem impressive majority of them came in game point scenarios. On April 13th we played Chicago Christian away. I wasn't feeling 100% going into the game and abt 24 hours earlier I didn't think I was going to play. We won the first set by a small margin 25-23. We then lost the second set 20-25, we lost what was working for us in the first set so we had to change our game plan mid set. The third set wasn't going great and we found ourselves in a slump near the end. We were down 18-23 and we all were feeling the pressure. It was my turn to serve. I was able to muster 2 aces in a row to bring the game to 20-23. I was able to keep my cool and help us comeback to 22-23. I then got another ace tying the game. Several crucial digs and passes later, we ended up winning that game 27-25 in the third set. In that game I had 17 digs, 3 aces, 1.72 serve receive rating, and a 94.7 serve percentage. I was able to help my team win in the clutch while not supposed to be playing in this game just 24 hours prior. I didn't let that stop me and I wouldn't have let my teammates down.
Thanks,
Hunter
