My volleyball interest began while playing in middle school on a team coached by my mom. She had me play setter, which was her position in grade school, high school, and club. When I was able to go to my current high school, volleyball again became an interest. I began going to open gyms over the summer and developed a relationship with my fellow teammates to start the season on JV and also serve as floating player up to varsity for the whole season. As a result, I received my varsity letter as a freshman and was encouraged to play club by my varsity coach.
While volleyball is a love and interest, I also take joy in my academics. So far this year I have maintained solid As and Bs. My hope is to continue playing so I may learn more and become a better play, while also growing mentally. I know being on the shorter side at this point that I have a disadvantage, but my mental knowledge will hopefully overcome the limitations I may face.
Outside of school and volleyball I enjoy spending time with my father, mother and two younger brothers. I have great friends who are encouraging and who also play both volleyball and baseball with me. Beyond playing sports and family time, I find leisure in watching stock car racing and listening to music.
Overall, I am a team player, willing and open to learning, and take direction well. Thank you for any opportunity given.
