Hello, my name is George Idowu, I'm a rising senior at Paint Branch High School, Montgomery County, MD. I am also a middle blocker who plays for MVP-17 black. My journey to volleyball started during my freshman year of high school, it was a sport that drew me in along with others, I remember peppering in a circle as a group during lunchtime. Later in my sophomore year, I decided to join the high school boys varsity team at Paint Branch and got accepted. On the court, I always try to uplift my teammates and bring positive and competitive energy. This made me end up with the volleyball team's Most Improved Player of the Year award. This also pushed me to become a better player for my upcoming years and taught me that anything is possible if you put enough effort into it. I later decided to want to play at a collegiate level at the end of my sophomore season in high school. This caused me to join MVP-17 black. Joining a club team opened a new horizon where I wasn't just a big fish in a small pond anymore, and for that, I am truly grateful for the people I've met along this journey. Outside of Volleyball, I love biking and experiencing new activities. Academically, I always strived to be above average and never settled for less. As I hope to continue my volleyball career in college, I plan to major in chemistry and become an Orthopedic Surgeon so that I can help others who can't help themselves. My biggest goal for volleyball is to be recognized around the nation that I am a formidable middle blocker.
