I began playing volleyball in the eighth grade where I was completely unaware of how invested I would become in the later years. At the time I was only 5'5", incapable of controlling the ball, and too inexperienced with the varsity level. Despite this, I pushed myself to practice for next year.
Freshman year was a big change in terms of my playing on the team. At practice, I was being used more in demonstrations of drills and started paying a lot of attention to the upper-classmen. Towards the mid-season, I was fully involved with all things the sport required like vertical jump, quick feet, and a strong core.
Through my dedication and consistent work, I managed to become a starter on the team in my sophomore year and an important figure on the team. I had one of the most experience on the team and I had been to the playoffs twice already, one year being the finals. Teammates started looking towards me for advice and criticism on things like serving and passing. The girl's team also sought me for help.
Still focused on making volleyball a priority in my life, I've been gradually working on small details of my playing, trying to fix any mistakes.
