Hey coaches and recruiters. My name is Titus and I'm a graduate of 2024. I live in the State of Minnesota and play varsity for Champlin Park High School Volleyball. My position is mainly Setter but my backup is Defensive Specialist. I have been playing volleyball for two to three years now. Before volleyball I have played Hockey all my life. I've gone up to Junior Varsity during my highschool career. I enjoyed playing Hockey but at the same time it felt as if I was being forced to play and didn't have anyone or coaches motivating me to keep going. There is still a part of me that enjoys and loves hockey especially coaching the kids but I don't think I can play competitively as I did before. Volleyball is a sport that I decided that I wanted to play for myself and I enjoyed it. Over the summers, I played all day long, hours of playing with my friends outside and indoors. Going to Andover YMCA, Mnselect/Ralia and staying till 3 am, Zanewood elementary from 8am to 12pm, and going to school at 6:50am to play volleyball until 5 minutes before our first class started. I am very dedicated and found in my own time to put the work and effort than I ever did before to play. I wanna play competitively and meet even better players. Going pro or even getting accepted into camps, colleges, etc would be a dream come true.
At first I never thought of anything about volleyball during my younger age. At first, I never cared about volleyball especially seeing my family, cousins, aunts, and uncles play outside at the park when we all get together. There is this big event that my culture hosts called, Freedom Festival, during July 4th weekend. This tournament styles event is so big that we have teams out of state and different cultures who are coming to participate in Volleyball, soccer, football, etc. I've had some big time uncles and aunts play in the volleyball tournament and wow they're great and cool to watch. I still didn't catch on but I was in awed watching the strong teams plays. I'm a big anime fan and this one specific anime got me hooked onto volleyball. This anime is called "Haikyuu" by Haruichi Furudate which is about a 5'4" volleyball player in Japan who has high vertical. He battles against a big time school with an amazing setter and they become lifetime rivals in middle school. They end up becoming teammates in High School even though the main guy wanted to fight against that setter. That setter became the main guys force of action because he needed a way to fixate around the wall in front of him. A setter who can utilize his teammates and make they stand out the most is the best feeling ever. When I'm setting, I enjoy seeing my players shine and stand out and even seeing them smile when they get a kill. My goal for this whole occasion is to become an outstanding player that can become big and become recognized. I wanna participate in the big leagues and also play in my cultures Freedom Festival and show off. My height may be small but I wanna prove that being small isn't so bad to fight in a big world. What makes me a great candidate would be that I have a fighting spirit and that I would enjoy getting along with everyone and putting them to use that brings out their best effort.
