I got interested in volleyball because my aunt played volleyball in highschool and my Grandma played at the YMCA for open gym and took me. My mom saw an open gym for volleyball for grades 8-12 and signed me up, but didn't realize it was only a girl's team. They let me come to the open gym anyway. I talked to P.E. coaches, teachers, and emailed the district athletic director trying to figure out how to get a boys team started in Fulton. We couldn't without another girl's team being created. Now my family drives 45 minutes each way to practice twice a week and drives 3+ hours for our tournaments in Kansas.
