Hello, my name is DeSheon Maldonado and I attend Salem County Vocational Technical School in Salem County, New Jersey. My passion for volleyball started in middle school. I had natural raw talent but didn't pursue the sport right away. I did know that I wanted to go to college and attend a university. It wasn't until my freshmen year that I decided to try out for the boy's volleyball team. I made the team and played in varsity as a freshman. This is when my burning passion for volleyball started. My school doesn't keep well track of stats for our sports teams since we are a vocational school, so it's difficult for recruiters for colleges to notice the students that attend my school. I have a serious drive and am always trying to make myself better when it comes to volleyball and anything in life. I would hate for my dreams to be diminished by this minor obstacle. As a high school student, I am also attending Salem County Community College to gain my degree in Political Science. I have high marks in all of my high school classes and my college classes. My goal is to get accepted into a high-ranking university and play volleyball for them while getting a Doctor of Juridical Science to become a criminal defense attorney. Volleyball has taught me lessons of unity and teamwork. These are skills I use every day to push myself to be the best me I possibly can be.
