My professional aspirations are to be a Emergency Pediatric Physician. I have been a type 1 diabetic since I was 3 years old, so I've visited the Emergency Room a few times in my life. I love kids and I love the activity of the emergency room. Physiology and anatomy have always been interesting to me, and my parents encouraged learning how the human body works as a means of helping me understand what diabetes does to me when I eat and perform in extracurriculars.
I have been involved in team sports since I was diagnosed. Baseball and football were always my favorite. My parents both played volleyball and as I've gotten older I have enjoyed it more and more. Not having a boys team at my high school makes it challenging to get game experience, so I am optimistic on making a USAV 17U team for the 2017-2018 season.
I am very active in multiple activities in school (academics, Young Life, band & show choir, baseball), so I know that it is important to continue to be involved in extracurricular activities in college will help me be disciplined with my schedule as well as gain outside perspective on many topics and fields.
