My Volleyball Journey!
My Journey into volleyball is a bit different than most volleyball players. My first year of volleyball was self taught. I started playing backyard volleyball with my cousins and it was then that I realized just how much I loved playing. Our High School does not have boys volleyball and I wanted to learn as much as I could. I started watching youtube videos and playing with adults in open gyms. I eventually got good enough to play on teams in local tournaments. I was 15 and playing the game I loved.
My second year I was 16 and wanting to learn more and more! There wasn't any clubs near where we had lived and we moved 3 hours away so that I could join a club. I went to tryouts and made a team I was asked to play 17U and I did! I learned so much from the Coach and players! We moved back to our hometown just before Club season ended, but we still drove the round trip, 6 hour drive, so that I could practice with the team. I stayed the weekend with family and went to 2 practices and an open gym every weekend until Club season ended.
This year will be my last year playing club because I will be graduating high school. There is a Club near me that is starting their first year boys Club. I went to Tryouts and made the team. I am playing with Ultimate Volleyball Club in Jenks! I am on the 17U team and I am ready to learn as much as I can to prepare me to play in college next year.
