My name is Andon Kiriakou and I live in Southern Ontario, Canada. My goal has always been to play volleyball at the highest level. I have played volleyball competitively for 7 years and every day I step on the court, my love for the sport grows.
My passion for volleyball has helped to instil many important attributes in me as a person and as a player. I consider myself a well-rounded volleyball player, who brings a lot of positive attributes and skill sets to the sport. My primary position is outside hitter, who plays all six rotations. I constantly strive to be a leader for my team - through encouragement and by example. I want to be the hardest working player, both in practices and in games. In 2022, I helped my team win our provincial (state) championship and we went on to place fourth at the Canadian Nationals.
I know that every athlete can get better. To improve and develop with different aspects of my game, I consistently weight train throughout the year, to become stronger and to give myself a physical edge with my competition. I also make sure to intake the proper nutrition during the day, especially pre and post workouts. When my body needs to recover and rest, I make it a priority, in order to be fully ready for the next training session on the court or in the weight room.
I also play beach volleyball competitively in the summer. I am a member of Team Ontario and this year I had the opportunity to train with U19 Team USA in Chula Vista, California. This experience helped my partner and I win provincials in the Youth Open (U21) Division, along with a Silver medal at the U19 Nationals. In September 2022, I will be competing at the World Beach Volleyball U19 Championships to represent Team Canada in Dikili, Turkey.
I am hoping to find a school that can help me reach my maximum potential both academically and athletically.
