I am excited about playing volleyball. I love every game and every practice. When I am playing, I am fully present. My worries fall away, I don't think about school or friends. There is nothing but being on the court and trying to do better with every serve, set, block and dig. I will bring this love of the game to your team.
I also love analyzing the game. Asking questions about what made that a good set; how I can put my hitters with fewer or late blocks; who is hot and who is struggling and what role can I play to make the team better. I enjoy seeing the team play better than it has and even like trying to figure out how to get the team out of a funk when we aren't playing well.
We just had tryouts and are gearing up for my final year at Ajax. As we progress, we are moving to faster and faster play. We are working on our BICs and finding the middle from further away from the net. I can find the middle from the 8-12' region which will keep our options available.
I am also personally focusing on better defense - locking down area 1. As a setter, I feel that I can read the sets better than most and am also working on communication with our defense to take away the primary attacks. Finally, I am working on being an attacking option in all parts of the court. My jump height has increased and I am stronger than last year allowing me to attack balls with more force and take sharper angles. As a setter, our opponents are often caught off guard when I go on two.
