Last summer I joined a few pick-up volleyball games and fell in love with the sport. When school started I inquired about how to form a club and completed the process. I started contacting leagues and coaches. My high school's girl's volleyball coach expressed interest and decided to coach our team. We worked together to set up tryouts and recruit players. Together, we started the first Woodlands High School Men's Volleyball team. We had players of varying commitment and skill levels. We played whenever we could and anyone in the league that we could schedule a game against. We played in our state tournament this year and were able to make it into the Championship bracket our first year as a team. I may not have been playing very long, but I found my passion. I am currently practicing with and trying out for a club league. I signed myself up for the NCSA, even working to help pay for it, because I believe I can be an asset to a team and a school.
I enjoy leadership and learning. I think my grades and my acceptance to the National Honors Society display that about me. I hope that this statement helps to display my passion, heart, leadership qualities, and my drive to excel in volleyball.
