As soon as my parents began bringing me to their summer sand volleyball games I knew that I wanted to follow in their athletic footsteps and learn the sport of volleyball. Since I was young, I loved to pepper and learn the basic fundamentals from my parents. I was very excited to begin playing in a co-ed recreational volleyball league through Milwaukee REC as soon as I entered the fourth grade and was old enough to play. Despite being one of only two boys on the team, I loved it. I then began playing in many camps and taking every opportunity I could to improve at the sport. I began playing club volleyball at MVC when I was 12 years old and have been playing competitively since. When I started my freshmen year of high school, I was very disappointed to hear that there would not be a fall sports season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I was even more disappointed to find out that I wouldn't have a season for my sophomore year either due to a switch in athletic directors. Since I wouldn't be able to play volleyball, I decided to run cross country for a season. Later in my sophomore year, I chose to attempt to start a boys volleyball co-op for my junior year as my goal for the IB MYP Personal Project. Through the support of my personal project supervisors, parents, and area athletic directors, I successfully joined my school into the South Milwaukee United boys volleyball co-op, which previously existed with two other schools. During my junior season, the first season for the newly established co-op, we were able to win the first conference title for any three of the schools since 1974.
