My name’s Noah Los, and I am an outside and opposite hitter. I’ve been into volleyball for about 4 years now. It’s something I’ve wanted to peruse since freshman year when our school district first established a men's volleyball team. Up until then, I had been playing select baseball which I first joined when I was eight years old. It was the one sport I wanted to play and what I spent my time focused on - until I found volleyball. I shifted all my focus and drive to honing my skills and conditioning my body to improve my skills and techniques on the court.
In addition to high school volleyball, I have been active in club teams. I have played for Sting Milwaukee and RVA. Due to financial reasons in our large family, I am only able to pay on the regional teams, but this past season the national team coach watched me play and reached out to my mom. She asked why I wasn't playing on the national level, and asked if I could possibly practice with the team and even play in some of their local tournaments. So, once the regional season was over, I spent time with the national team. I also attend summer open gyms and contact days at the high school which are managed by our coaching staff. My goal is to keep playing year-round to improve. I even play on my Aunt's summer sand league.
One thing that would make me a good candidate for your team is my ability to play the game as well as my communication skills and the way I work with my team. What makes me different from other recruits is I’m very team oriented and I encourage my team as a whole as well as sharing with other players what I’ve learned from playing volleyball. I have a positive attitude, and I don't let mistakes bring down my drive to shake it off and move on to the next play. Last year, our high school Varsity coach made me a "hybrid player," meaning I was on Varsity, but I also played on JV with the new group of guys. This meant I was playing constantly at our conference tournaments. The other reason for this was that the Varsity coach wanted me to be a mentor for the new guys on JV and grow as a leader. This really showed me my value as a team player. I also spend time every summer volunteering to help with the local youth volleyball camps.
My goal for college is to attend a university in the mid-west that has a good sports medicine program. I want to go into physical therapy, dietary sciences, coaching/conditioning, or another related field. Being in sports has put in me a passion for fitness, and I want to help others achieve their sports goals. I am taking part in two programs my senior year which help support these ambitions. One program offers me a chance to be an apprentice to a sports medicine professional for part of my academic day. The other program gives me a chance to earn credit for working a job in a sport field. I currently work at HotWorx in Pewaukee, and I work daily with people who want to join and improve their fitness.
Thank you for your consideration and I know I would be an asset to not only your team, but the school you represent.
